Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm – D)

Program Duration: 5 Years Timing     

Entry Requirements • 12 Years of Education, F.Sc Pre-Medical (Bio, Physics & Chemistry), A-Level or Equivalent with Minimum 60% Marks. • IIU Entry Test is mandatory.

INTRODUCTION The objective of this 5 years undergraduate degree program is to train Pharmacy practitioners to possess advanced expertise, clinical experience and leadership qualities that enable them to be at the forefront of the Pharmacy profession and health care in a variety of settings; institutional, community practice, government, academia, industry and drug development. The curriculum emphasizes a patient centered course of study and involves a structure that will enable students to develop into reflective practitioners with skills and attitudes to evaluate critically and modify practices in a timely and effective manner.

CAREER PROSPECTS The approved Pharm.D. Curriculum has been designed/formulated to prepare qualified Pharmacists who will have the complete knowledge of medicines, strong behavior and inspirational ethical values along with writing and communication skills that will enable them to pursue careers in:

  • Federal Government: Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, National Institute of Health.
  • Health Department, Provincial Governments (Punjab, KPK, Sindh, and Balochistan): as Drug Inspector, Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Drug Controller, Drug Controller, Hospital Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacists, Drug Analyst.
  • Health Department, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan as Drug Inspector, Chief Pharmacist, Hospital Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacists, Drug Analyst.
  • Pharmaceutical and Herbal Industries: as managers in production, procurement, ware house, distribution, quality control, R&D and quality assurance departments.
  • Marketing, sales, drug regulatory affairs and advisory services to pharmaceutical industries
  • World Health Organization (WHO) and renowned Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
  • Community and Retail Pharmacy
  • Forensic Science Agencies
  • Academic and Research.
