Professional Exchange Program
Malieka Farah Deeba Malik, Head of the Department of Law at Ibadat International University Islamabad, led a training session for Assistant Superintendents of Police (ICC/52nd STP) as part of the Professional Exchange Program at the Federal Judicial Academy, Pakistan.
The session offered an Appraisal of the legal framework on gender harassment at the workplace, covering Pakistan’s Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act and related statutes, jurisdictional interfaces (internal inquiries, ombudsperson, FIA, and workplace committees), evidentiary thresholds, and complaint-handling protocols. Discussion emphasized rights-respecting procedures, victim protection, due process for all parties, and documentation that holds up to judicial scrutiny.
ASP officers of the 52nd Specialized Training Programme examined case vignettes from public-service settings, debated practical challenges in registering and investigating complaints, and identified steps police leaders can take to model compliance within their own units and guide institutions in their jurisdictions.
The Academy’s Professional Exchange Program convenes scholars and practitioners with field officers to tighten links across the justice system. Ms. Malik’s session highlighted how a clear grasp of harassment law supports safer workplaces, fairer processes, and stronger coordination between police, prosecutors, and oversight bodies..
